Primedia Unlimited’s mall activation specialist, Mall Active, gave consumers the opportunity to interact with Dstv’s new Explora decoder and to experience it first hand during an innovative mall activation at Sandton City, Gateway, Brooklyn Mall and Canal Walk shopping centres.
The shopping mall activation campaign spread the message that ‘the best TV just got better’, thanks to Dstv’s new Explora PVR decoder that has many added features and benefits.
“Dstv was looking for an activation that’s innovative and futuristic, that’s never been done before and that stands out and makes an impact inside shopping malls,” explains Mall Active’s Travis Brown.
“Our solution to target current and prospective LSM 8 – 10 Dstv consumers came in the form of ‘Explora Pods’, which enabled consumers to sit inside the pod and interact with Dstv Explora via its own decoder and TV,” he adds.
Tablet stands ran the application, providing information and details about Dstv packages, and a ‘crack the code’ game further enticed consumers to take part as four decoders were given away – one at each mall.
“Weekends saw the addition of our sister company, TLC, getting celebrities to connect with consumers when they were at their happiest and most relaxed with its GlamCam product, which is a camera kiosk that enables consumers to capture an image of themselves. This provided Dstv’s consumers with a real-time, socially integrated experience,” says Brown.
