Primedia Unlimited’s shopping centre marketing specialists, Primedia Lifestyle Marketing Services (PLMS), is pleased to be associated with the new look Menlyn Park Shopping Centre’s current and ongoing refurbishment project. Estimated completion is at the end of 2016. 

In April 2014, construction commenced on Pretoria’s iconic mall, Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, which is undergoing a new brand identity, expansion and refurbishment. The shopping centre will, after its scheduled completion in November 2016, be one of the largest shopping centres in Africa and the southern hemisphere.

Equally co-owned by Pareto Limited (Pareto) and Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (South Africa) Limited, more than R2 billion will be invested into this modern development.

“As Menlyn Park Shopping Centre’s management and marketing company of choice, we are proud to be associated with this iconic Tshwane landmark,” says Doug Mayne, Group MD of the Primedia Lifestyle Group. “This expansion will transform the retail landscape of the city and enhance this super regional centre’s position as one of the leading shopping centres in South Africa.”

Andrea de Wit, Marketing Manager for Menlyn Park Shopping Centre explains: “With an additional 50 000sqm, retail space will amount to a massive 170 000sqm with over 500 shops, creating a bigger selection of brands for consumers while offering an enjoyable and convenient shopping experience. This epicenter of shopping is easily accessible via public and private transport.”

“To minimise any disruption to retailers and customers, a phased approach to the ongoing refurbishment will be undertaken,” says Andrea. “Expected completion of each phase is the last quarter of 2014 (event arena reconfiguration), the second quarter of 2015 (phase 1), and the last quarter of 2016 (phase 2 and completed refurbishment).
