Primedia Unlimited is a leading Out of Home media provider in South Africa. It opened its doors in September 2004 and since then has grown into a formidable presence in South Africa’s media marketplace by offering ‘Impossible to Ignore’ platforms that constantly strive to bring innovation to the media industry. New media offerings such as Salon Media; Fitting Exposure and Smartbench are key elements to the ever growing business. Roger Jardine

Non Executive Chairman of Primedia Unlimited 

Roger Jardine was born in Riverlea, Johannesburg. He trained as a physicist, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Haverford College in 1989, Pennsylvania (USA), and a Master of Science (MSc) in radiological Physics from Wayne State University in Michigan (USA) in 1991.
In 1992 Mr Jardine became Coordinator of the African National Congress’ (ANC) desk on science and technology in Shell House, Johannesburg.
In 1995 he was appointed Director-General of the Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology. The portfolio included the oversight of national museums, science and technology institutions, funding policy for the arts, language policy and the National Archives.
He also served as Chairman of the Board of CSIR and the Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (NECSA) between 1999 and 2005.
Mr Jardine joined Kagiso Media in June 1999 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In November 2006, Mr Jardine assumed the role of Chairman of Kagiso Media and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Kagiso Trust Investments (KTI) (Pty) Ltd, the holding company of Kagiso Group.
In July 2008, he was appointed Chief Executive of the Aveng Group, a position he held until August 2013.
In February 2014, Mr Jardine joined the Primedia Group.
He is also a Non-Executive Director of FirstRand Limited and of The Sharks Rugby.

Ryan Williams

Chief Executive Officer

Nationality: South Africa
Ryan joined Primedia in 2012 in the Ster Kinekor Theatres business before moving to a Group role in 2013 and then to Primedia Unlimited in 2015. Prior to joining Primedia, Ryan spent 10 years at Nota Bene where he was appointed Group Managing Director in 2007. During his time there, the agency won Media Agency of the year 8 times. Ryan has been recognized as the media industry’s Innovator of the Year in 2011 and as one of South Africa’s Top 40 under 40 media personalities in both 2013 and 2014. His passion is education and Ryan has contributed to Honours media programmes at UJ, AAA and Vega, as well as authored the strategy component in the media industry textbook.

Grant Willemse

Chief Operating Officer

Grant Willemse took up the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Primedia Unlimited at the beginning of May 2007. Willemse has an undeniable creative energy and business acumen. As winner of a Cannes Media Lion and the 2003 AMASA Roger Garlick Award for his Osram Light Bulbs ‘Studio Lights’ campaign, Willemse has never been short of innovative ideas and has always played an invaluable role for the company he keeps. Chairperson of the Financial Directors Forum of the ACA (Association for Communication and Advertising) and a member of the ACA Operations Committee, Willemse is exceptionally well-recognised by his peers in the industry and has been a mentor and friend to many.

CHRIS PATRICIOS

Director

Chris joined Primedia in 2008 as Group Finance Manager and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in June 2011. Prior to that he had served as Financial Director of a division of Servest (Pty) Ltd. He worked within KPMG’s Hospitality and Leisure business unit for three years and prior to that had spent two years with Credit Suisse in London. Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) on completion of his articles at KPMG in 2002 and he holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Accounting degree, both from the University of Witwatersrand.

Jabulani Mahange

Director

Jabu joined Primedia as Group Human Capital Executive in July 2009. He was previously a board member and Human Resources Director at Johson & Johnson Medical from 01 April 2005 to 30 June 2009. He began his career as a teacher, and joined Standard Bank Human Resources in 1992. Jabu also held senior Human Resources positions at ABSA, Deloitte and the Edcon Group.

Retha Le Roux

Group Financial Manager

Retha has been appointed as the Group Financial Manager from January 2012. Her career spans 20 years across various industries, the latest was as Head of Finance for the Kumnandi Food Company, the largest KFC Franchise holder in South Africa. Retha’s qualifications include a BCom Accounting degree (Rau), BCompt Honours degree (Unisa) and a Masters of Business Leadership (Unisa SBL). She has proven all-round skills in senior Financial roles and her management skills together with strategic planning and execution abilities rank very highly.

Tsholofelo Maimane

Group Human Capital Manager

Tsholofelo has been appointed as the Group Human Capital Manager from July 2015. She began her career as a teacher, and through ongoing studies and research, and her passion in the field of Human Resource Management and Development, worked for various industries in the past 19 years, including Anglo Platinum and ORT SA. She joined Ster-Kinekor Theatres in December 2010 and her last position within the division was that of a Corporate Human Capital Manager.
